Benguet Provincial Library is one of the public libraries in the Cordillera Region. It is well established and affiliated to the National Library of the Philippines. Likewise, it adopts various situations such as its objectives and activities to strengthen the exposure of users to library materials through cooperation of the provincial administration and the library staff. Currently, the Library was established as Tech4ED Center which is a project of DICT under e-Filipino program.
The Library started serving the general public from near and far flung areas on August 1, 1967 after the creation of Benguet as a separate province by virtue of Republic Act. No. 4695.It was temporarily housed in a room at the Mountain State Agricultural College, now the Benguet State University, where the Philippine Bank and the Department of Science and Technology Office was formerly located. In April 1973 when the three –storey capitol building was completed, Governor Ben Palispis allocated a room adjacent to the Office of the Governor for the Library. Calendar year 1986 up to the present, it was finally transferred to a separate building adjacent to the main capitol building.
Guided by its mission and vision the Benguet Provincial Library aims to provide outstanding library services, collections, programs and facilities which will expand and enrich their customers’ lives. The Library is housed on the second floor of the capitol old building adjacent to the open gymnasium. The Library is strategically located within the capitol compound.
Without libraries what have we? We have no past and no future.
